SOVEREIGN MS. TEXAS 50s

Hometown: Austin, TX

Occupation: Digital Marketer

Favorite quote: "Do one thing every day that scares you," most often attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt

Personal motto: Strive to be better today than you were yesterday.

Hobbies: Crafting, volunteering, water aerobics

Most cherished accomplishment: The first sprint triathlon I completed.

Cause or passion: Empowering young women to pursue their passions for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math)

Signature color: Pink

Tradition or rule of etiquette: Rule of etiquette – Never bring flowers to a host/hostess that are not in a vase. A host/hostess is busy with hosting, and your gift (albeit kind) should not be a burden for them to take time away from their event find a vase etc.

A decision I made on instinct: Recently, I stopped on a winding road to help a turtle. I didn’t even think about it, I pulled over, grabbed something to help scoop him up and got him to a creekside.

A voice you carry with you from the past: I carry my mom’s voice and her advice with me every day.

What do people misunderstand about women in their 50s? People misunderstand that women in their 50’s are not slowing down they are finding a new stride.  Women in their 50’s have different family priorities, so you see that they focus on their career more, they spend more time volunteering, they find or rediscover hobbies. 50 is fabulous!

A luxury you've learned to give yourself? Self-care. That means taking time to do something for myself if it is getting my nails done, going to the gym, or simply getting coffee from the coffee shop its my me time.
